ISSUES
Education

I am the product of public education. I attended Birch Elementary School, Merrick Avenue Middle School, and John F. Kennedy High School. I got my bachelors from a public university. I got my masters from a CUNY school.

I know the importance of education. I know the importance of funding our public education system.

When elected, I will:

  • Increase funding for our school systems

  • Work to make CUNY & SUNY schools more affordable

  • Promote trade & vocational schools

  • Fund music & art programs

  • Fund after-school programs

Taxes

Residents in our district currently pay some of the highest taxes in the nation. When elected, I will:

  • Advocate for an independent committee to review our state spending in order to cut unnecessary costs

  • Help residents take full advantage of all tax break incentives

  • Increase tax reliefs for families

  • Maximize tax-deductible savings

  • Support the permanent property tax cap that will save New Yorkers billions

  • Vote for SB1388 which will reduce property taxes by 20-30% by reducing the cost homeowners pay to school districts WITHOUT lowering school funding

I will fight hard to cut excess spending by the state that does not help residents. I will put that money back into your pockets.

Keeping Our Communities Safe
Our community is facing increased crime & gun violence.
When elected, I will:
  • Support common sense gun laws such as extensive background checks and closing gun-show lope-holes
  • Funding community-based police programs
  • Reforming our justice system so we keep non-violent offenders out of our jails & focus on serious criminals
Keeping Abortion Safe & Legal

A woman's decision to have an abortion is a very personal choice between her & her doctor. I will always fight to keep abortion legal & accessible to all New Yorkers

Transportation
As someone who commutes to the city daily, I am well aware of the issues plaguing the LIRR & MTA. When elected, I will:
  • Fight to lower the cost of a monthly ticket

  • Fight to restore express service on peak trains

  • Secure federal funding to improve our rail lines & get more rail cars to improve capacity

  • Vote against any project that will only update station appearances without updating our infrastructure

Healthcare
Nobody should have to go into debt because of a visit to their doctor. I believe that everyone has the right to affordable and accessible health care. When elected, I will:
  • Cap prescription drug costs
  • Work to keep NYS Public Health insurance accessible & affordable through the Individual Marketplace
  • Work to lower deductibles so your doctor visit is affordable
Environment

Our community is home to excellent parks & beaches that are unfortunately at risk due to changes in our climate.

When elected, I will:

  • Introduce & pass laws that work to prevent the erosion of our beaches

  • Support laws protecting our parks and stoping development on them

  • Making sure we are prepared in case a storm like Sandy ever hits us again

Supporting & Promoting Small Business

I am proud to be the son of a small business owner! My dad started his business in 1989 & is still going strong. Small businesses are the cornerstone of our community!

When elected, I will:

  • Make it easier for start-up businesses to get loans at affordable rates

  • Amend the tax code to ease the burden on small business owners

  • Streamline the process to obtain a business license & incorporation

  • Support our local businesses by sponsoring small business weeks
